Our Story
How it started
Before founding ABZ Group, Gordon Walker and Capt. William Mair spent over 30 years navigating the complexities of the global maritime and offshore industries worldwide. They experienced firsthand the challenges of managing teams in complex, high-demand operations and knew that companies needed more than staffing — they needed a reliable, committed partner.
Fueled by this purpose, ABZ Group was created to support organizations in attracting, managing, and developing talent with efficiency, agility, and care.

Our Milestones
Track Record
In 2013, ABZ Serviços Brasil was founded, marking the start of our journey in offshore HR solutions. That same year, we managed the full deployment and administration of 150 Brazilian professionals for international offshore operations.
In 2016, we achieved ISO 9001 certification, affirming our commitment to high-quality management systems and operational excellence. This milestone was a key step in reinforcing trust and credibility among our partners and clients.
In 2018, ABZ expanded operations to manage crews for five tankers operating in the Brazilian cabotage trade. This move demonstrated our ability to adapt and scale our workforce management solutions to meet evolving market needs and regulatory standards.
In 2021, we achieved MLC 2006 certification and founded our UK branch, AHK. These milestones represented our growth beyond Brazil, with a clear focus on meeting global compliance standards and providing localized support in international maritime and offshore markets.
In 2025, ABZ unified its operations under the new identity: ABZ Group. This strategic rebranding reflects our evolution into a global provider of specialized workforce solutions. Alongside the new brand, we launched a regional branch in Uruguay and reinforced our expertise in HR solutions for the energy, offshore, and maritime sectors. The ABZ Group name now embodies our international footprint and integrated service model.
